Performance, technology and style have always been cornerstones of cycling. We may not compete but we love the feel of a racing bike – an Orca that is light, fast and beautiful. Professional athletes, weekend warriors, Strava hunters and recreational riders all have similar aspirations – we love the machine as much as the lifestyle.
Everyone can benefit from a smoother ride, advanced engineering and aerodynamic advantage even if we don’t know a Watt from a Water Bottle. We expect integrated controls and components that are sleek, smart and device-enabled. For flexibility and performance, we ensure Orca has room for wider rubber. To fit the widest range of riders, we offer unique bar and stem fitting solutions because not all of us are seeking the same riding position, we want the fastest bike that fits. Orca is a personalized, modern, capable racing bike that excites us to ride exactly the way we like.
ORBEA MONOCOQUE CARBON
We use the most technologically advanced carbon construction available to make the most sophisticated frame possible – A complex and painstaking process with results you will appreciate in the saddle.
LIGHTNESS
Optimized layups and fewer frame pieces reduces weight. Optimum carbon compaction allows us to use less material.
STIFFNESS
Single uniform structures are better optimized to resist deflection. Carbon structures are tuned to deliver maximum stiffness without adding weight.
RIDE QUALITY
Running continuous fibers through and around intersections allows fine-tuning of structures for the best blend of comfort.
RELIABILITY
Eliminating bonded areas increases strength. The lifetime warranty assures your Orbea will be a long-time companion.
FULL CARBON
Engineering a frame that uses as much carbon as possible of course saves weight but it also contributes to the sophistication and refinement of each Orbea.
FREEFLOW FORK
Aerodynamic forks are typically designed to perform like aero frame tubes – optimized for directional movement through the wind. But the forward rotation of the spokes and today’s wider rims and tires approaching from behind the fork (against the flow of wind as the wheel spins) creates a high pressure/high drag zone.
Freeflow spreads the fork legs away from this area to reduce pressure and turbulence. Normal directional aerodynamics remain unchanged but the bike gets faster because the airspace inside the Freeflow fork blades is less chaotic.
STIFFNESS
95-105NM STIFFNESS The large majority of torsional and lateral loads are handled by the lower spine of the frame. The headtube, downtube and chainstays resist twisting and transmit power to the rear wheel. There is no doubt about it, resistance to flex in the bottom of the frame translates directly to more watts to the wheel and a sensation that power transfer is instantaneous.
SMOOTHNESS
Lowered seat stays and optimized carbon structure and tubing shapes are elemental to building a comfortable frame that helps reduce muscle fatigue, and comfort makes you faster. The natural flex patterns created by the carbon layup and minimal bulk of the top tube and seat stays deliver a dynamic, smooth ride that feels like floating over rough roads.
